Birth and death certificates for events that took place in Brown County, Indiana can be obtained at the Brown County Health Department.(If an individual was born or died in a hospital, their records must be obtained in the county where that hospital is located.)  Records are available to 1882.  Birth Certificates are $5.00 per certified copy and Death Certificates are $6.00 per certified copy.  Fees vary from county to county. 

All persons obtaining one of these certificates must fill out an application, and have some form of ID in order for the staff to issue the document.  That ID may be any of the following:

In some cases, more than one of these forms of ID will be required to obtain a birth or death certificate.
